Two cards that together form a single Legendary Pokémon—turn them on their side and admire the watercolor artwork that spans both halves. With the Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver Booster Box, the Pokémon TCG introduced two completely new card types in February 2010 that turned the game upside down: Pokémon LEGEND and Pokémon Prime. Ho-Oh LEGEND and Lugia LEGEND each consist of two physical cards that must be played simultaneously, and with their breathtaking illustrations, they rank among the most visually impressive cards ever produced for the TCG.
The set marks a return to the Johto region and features 124 cards with a completely revamped card design in new colors and a new layout. Six Pokémon Prime—Ampharos, Blissey, Donphan, and the three Johto starters Feraligatr, Meganium, and Typhlosion—stand out with their holographic borders, gold name text, and dynamic close-up artwork. A special surprise is the return of Double Colorless Energy, a card that hadn’t been printed since the original Base Set and has now made its comeback more than ten years later. Even the Basic Energy cards received special treatment, featuring silhouettes of Johto Pokémon set against iconic locations such as the Bell Tower and the Whirl Islands. Each booster box contains 36 packs of 10 cards. As the starting point for an entirely new series featuring unprecedented card types and an emotional return to Johto, this box marks a milestone in TCG history.
