Three Secret Rare cards that don’t belong in the official set list—Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard, numbered beyond the set’s total of 97—make the Pokémon EX Dragon Booster Box one of the most sought-after boxes from the early EX series. The Charizard is the absolute highlight here: it was the very first Charizard to be released under the Nintendo banner and is still considered one of the most iconic Secret Rares in the Pokémon TCG. On average, each booster box contained only one of these three cards, which made the hunt even more exciting.
The set was released in November 2003 as the third expansion in the EX series and contains 100 cards, including powerful Pokémon-EX such as Rayquaza EX, Latias EX, Latios EX, and Dragonite EX. The sealed product itself is also popular among collectors: the booster box is considered one of the most beautifully designed boxes in Pokémon history, featuring Latias and Latios on the top and Rayquaza prominently on the side panel. Each box contains 36 packs of 9 cards. Despite having a print run similar to earlier EX sets, EX Dragon is harder to find because significantly more boxes were opened at the time. As a result, sealed copies are exceptionally rare and highly valued by vintage Pokémon collectors.
