The Pokémon Fossil LockDown Theme Deck is a true classic from the early years of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. The deck was released on October 10, 1999, along with the Fossil expansion, and contains a pre-built selection of 60 cards. LockDown focuses primarily on Water- and Fire-type Pokémon, with a Holo Rare Lapras from the Fossil expansion as its centerpiece. The Pokémon selection also includes Magmar, Horsea, Seadra, Krabby, Kingler, Vulpix, and Ponyta, supplemented by Trainer cards and Water and Fire Energy.
For fans of vintage Pokémon, the original packaging of the LockDown Theme Deck is particularly interesting. In addition to the 60 cards, the product came with a special holographic Aerodactyl coin, glass damage counters, a rulebook, and a Fossil card checklist. LockDown, along with BodyGuard, was one of the two Theme Decks released by Fossil and is therefore inextricably linked to the early Wizards of the Coast era. Today, a sealed copy is primarily a rare collector’s item for fans of Fossil, original Theme Decks, and first-generation Pokémon products.
